Postcard from Letty Jenkins to Edith Spooner, 18th August 1910:

"Really lovely here - am writing this on the pier with lights just coming on, ever so pretty and people still on the beach. Joe and me have been playing the machines - there’s a Folies Bergere one that’s really awful, Joe spent six pence on it. I shot six black cats and he tested his grip - it says he’s got the grip of a Plumber which is about right! There’s a professor here who rides a bike off the end of the pier (honest) and I’ve just had my fortune told as well as my weight - I turned the dial to ‘Will I Regret My Marriage’, and Joe said too late anyway..."
