Postcard
from Letty Jenkins to Edith Spooner,
18th August 1910:
"Really
lovely here - am writing this on the
pier with lights just coming on, ever
so pretty and people still on the
beach. Joe and me have been playing
the machines - theres a Folies
Bergere one thats really awful,
Joe spent six pence on it. I shot
six black cats and he tested his grip
- it says hes got the grip of
a Plumber which is about right! Theres
a professor here who rides a bike
off the end of the pier (honest) and
Ive just had my fortune told
as well as my weight - I turned the
dial to Will I Regret My Marriage,
and Joe said too late anyway..."
